Ransomware attack hits US library service Baker & Taylor

Major U.S. library content, software, and service supplier Baker & Taylor has confirmed being hit by a ransomware attack over the weekend of Aug. 19, and remediation efforts are still ongoing, according to The Record, a news site by cybersecurity firm Recorded Future. Several systems and apps, along with office and service center phone systems, were affected by the attack that was first reported on Aug. 23, noted Baker & Taylor, which said that its systems continue to be down even though it previously expected system disruption to last for a week. "Our IT team and outside experts are working nonstop to restore our systems," said the library supplier. No ransomware group has so far admitted responsibility for the attack, which comes after a ransomware intrusion against publishing giant Macmillan last month that resulted in order disruptions, as well as a LockBit ransomware attack against German library service Onleihe in April.
