Increased nation-state threat included in predictions report

Everything from OS X-targeted malware to Attacks as a Service (AaaS) will plague security professionals in 2015, according to a new report.

The SentinelOne Labs “Advanced Threat Intelligence Report: 2015 Predictions” details multiple major threats that could be seen in 2015. Attacks on critical infrastructure, for instance, could increase and cause major power grid outages or issues with operations at manufacturing facilities.

Nation-state threats will also present a particularly demanding threat, the report says. Russia will likely continue using cyber attacks as a “political retaliation tool,” and China will continue carrying out brute-force attacks and espionage campaigns. Chinese attacks will be harder to mitigate due to relaxed accountability in the Chinese regime and a lack of diplomacy with the U.S, the report said.

In addition to these two countries, Pakistan is expected to expand its malicious activities against India.
