U.S. and U.K. to team up in cyber defense exercises

As a response to escalating cyber attacks around the world, U.S. and U.K. intelligence agencies will be conducting simulated cyber war games targeting the financial sector.

Following meetings held between President Obama and Prime Minister David Carmeron, the White House announced the upcoming coordinated efforts which will focus on the financial sector this year and will assist the private sector in both countries, assuring that organizations are taking the correct steps in protecting their networks in the face of growing cyber threats, according to The Hill.

The new joint cyber cell will be comprised of intelligence and law enforcement agencies from both countries including the National Security Agency and FBI, as well as Britain's Government Communications Headquarters and MI5.

The team will be focused on "specific cyber defense topics" and are intended to increase the flow of threat information.
