Company news: Palo Alto Networks, Gartner add key staff

»Next-generation firewall firm Palo Alto Networks has named Mark McLaughlin (left) as CEO. McLaughlin, who last served as president and CEO of VeriSign since 2009, assumes the position vacated last December when Lane Bess stepped down.

»Analyst firm Gartner has tapped PCI compliance expert Anton Chuvakin as research director. He spent the last two years as principal of Security Warrior Consulting, and before that, he was director of product management at LogLogic. Given his new role, Chuvakin has resigned from the advisory boards of Dasient, Securonix, nexTier Networks, Savant Protection, eGestalt and RapidIO.

»Identropy, provider of access and identity management solutions, has appointed Nishant Kaushik to chief architect. He will head the company's managed services products. Most recently, Kaushik served as lead strategist for identity management at Oracle.

»Zenprise, a Redwood City, Calif.-based provider of mobile device management software, has named Christopher Doell as vice president of customer success. In this newly created role, Doell will focus on client services, including customer care, account management, implementation services and channel partner enablement. He previously held positions at Intuit, Macromedia (now owned by Adobe) and NetGravity/DoubleClick (now a subsidiary of Google).

»RedSeal Systems, maker of network security optimization products, has named Parveen Jain (left) CEO. Having served on the company's board since 2007, Jain will be charged with growing RedSeal's innovations to help organizations better deal with network complexity and advanced threats. He previously was EVP of corporate development and strategy at McAfee.

»Stroz Friedberg, an international law firm that specializes in digital risk management and investigations, has hired Scott Brown as general counsel and secretary. In his role as head of the firm's global legal team, Brown will be in charge of all legal affairs for Stroz Friedberg and its subsidiaries. Brown most recently led the intellectual property and technology group at Boston-based Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP.

»Nominum, a DNS services and security provider, has appointed Gary Messiana as CEO. He will run corporate strategy and operations as the company grows in additional markets. Since 2008, Messiana has served as entrepreneur-in-residence at Vessemer Venture Partners, a Nominum investor, and before that held the CEO role at Netli (acquired by Akamai).

»Centrify, provider of auditing, access control and identity management solutions, has secured $16 million in Series D funding. The financing round, led by Index Ventures, helped Centrify achieve a record year in revenue, and the company will use the money to expand growth in new areas, including the cloud.
