Company news: Rasch hired at CSC, Facebook joins MAAWG

CSC, a provider of technology solutions, has named Mark Rasch director of cybersecurity and privacy consulting for its North American Public Sector business unit. He will be tasked with developing and deploying the new practice. Previously Rasch served as managing director of FTI Consulting, which specializes in financial restructuring and litigation support.

SlimWare Utilities, a Biloxi, Miss.-based software company, has launched. The vendor specializes in products that clean, repair, update and optimize personal computers for home users and small businesses. Its suite of offerings organize and sync data, clean and fix system errors, install updates, repair broken connections and provide overall maintenance.

Facebook has joined the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group, a global association of ISPs, telecom providers and other organizations whose mission is to fight email abuse. The social networking site will interact with other members to create industry best practices around end-user security.

Tripwire, maker of security and compliance automation solutions, has partnered with cloud computing provider Terremark Worldwide to offer a joint cloud-based log management solution. The offering provides log aggregation and security information and event management by storing critical data on Tripwire servers within Terremark's cloud environment.

Blue Coat, provider of secure web gateway technologies, has named Michael Borman president and CEO and Brian NeSmith chief product officer. Borman will replace NeSmith, who held the top management role since 1999 but now will focus on product strategy, direction and development. Borman most recently served as CEO of Avocent, a developer of switching systems that was acquired last year by Emerson Electric.

The FBI has awarded a $99.5 million contract to ManTech International, a technology solutions vendor, to provide the law enforcement agency with cybersecurity services. According to the deal, ManTech will offer round-the-clock cybersecurity support, including intrusion detection monitoring, security engineering, vulnerability testing, pen testing, threat analysis and incident response. In addition, ManTech has acquired QinetiQ's Security and Intelligence Solutions business in North America for $60 million. The business provides security offerings to the Department of Defense and intelligence community.

Equifax, the Atlanta-based credit rating and information solutions company, has acquired Anakam, provider of multifactor authentication software. The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, enables the integration of Anakam's Identity Suite with Equifax's eIDverifier consumer authentication service into a single platform.
