Summary

DigitalPersona Pro Enterprise offers fully integrated biometric fingerprint logon capabilities for the enterprise infrastructure. This product has grown immensely since we first reviewed it a few years back. It now has become more than just biometric logon leveraging the exiting Active Directory infrastructure. With the DigitalPersona Pro Server, administrators can create and enforce security policy throughout the enterprise as well.

While this tool has grown, the installation and deployment has stayed simple and straightforward. Installation is comprised of several steps, including using the packaged tools to extend the Active Directory schema, install the server component and deploy the clients. Clients can be deployed through a Group Policy software installation. After the server is set up and the clients are deployed, administration is all done using Microsoft Management Console. This tool is very easy to use because of its seamless integration with Active Directory. It becomes a part of the environment rather than another piece of software to manage.

Administrators can set and easily deploy various policies, including full disk encryption, single sign-on, digital signature, email and document encryption, and two-factor RADIUS authentication, among others. This product also features a number of strong authentication options.

Documentation included a large PDF administrator guide, as well as many other supplemental PDF guides.
DigitalPersona offers no-cost access to a large online knowledge base as support for customers. Customers also can purchase additional assistance options through a support agreement, which includes access to phone and email technical support, as well as software maintenance.

At a price ranging from $50-$100 per computer, this tool may seem like it would be quite costly. However, we find it to be an excellent value for the money given its very comprehensive feature set that is easy and intuitive to use and manage.
