On its #OpParis Twitter account, the activist group Anonymous claimed it took down 5,500 pro-ISIS Twitter accounts.
“We report that more than 5,500 Twitter account of #ISIS are now #down! #OpParis #Anonymous #ExpectUs,” the group wrote in a Nov. 17 tweet.
On Monday, the group claimed to have taken down more than 3,824 accounts, although the validity of either claim can't be confirmed.
Anonymous has also begun leaking the personal information of individuals it believes to be extremist. This comes just two days after declaring war on ISIS following the Paris attacks, according to The Independent. The alleged leak reportedly contains physical addresses and names of individuals believed to be involved in ISIS recruitment.
In January, following the attacks on Charlie Hebdo in France, the group launched a campaign to hack into Twitter accounts that publish ISIS propaganda Anonymous claimed this week's takedown would be its "biggest cyber attack" against the group.
