CSA releases updated cloud security guidance

The Cloud Security Alliance (CSA) has published updated versions of two industry security standards: the Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM) and the Consensus Assessments Initiatives Questionnaire (CAIQ).

Version 3.0.1 of the documents, released on Wednesday, brings significant improvements to the guidance by aligning CCM, CAIQ and the Security Guidance for Critical Areas of Focus in Cloud Computing v3, the alliance announced.

“Together the CCM v3.0.1 and CAIQ v3.0.1 allow for greater efficiencies and transparency in the cloud assessment and implementation process,” a release from CSA said. The new guidance will also provide a more efficient transition point for providers submitting to the CSA Security, Trust & Assurance Registry (STAR), a free registry documenting cloud security controls services.

CSA CEO Jim Reavis said, by facilitating transparency as cloud providers complete baseline assessment processes, the updates would make an “enormous and positive impact on the cloud industry."
