Battelle announces this year’s CyberAuto Challenge

The third annual Battelle CyberAuto Challenge will take place in Detroit this summer.

The July event allows students to work alongside professionals to learn about cars' IT security and participate in challenges to apply their knowledge practically, according to a release. The involved professionals work at multiple organizations, including automotive manufacturers and federal agencies. The covered topics include secure system design, secure programming, embedded systems and IT law and ethics.

Interested students must be nominated by a school administrator. Working professionals can contact the event organizers directly at [email protected].

The event announcement comes at a time when more tech companies, including Google, are getting involved in the car industry. Earlier this year, Google announced tentative plans to build Android-connected cars through the Open Automotive Alliance (OAA).
