InterContinental Hotels cyberattack impacts booking systems

InterContinental Hotels Group had its IT systems compromised by a cyberattack, resulting in the disruption of its online booking systems, according to The Register. Some of IHG's technology systems have been infiltrated by unauthorized actors, affecting operations since Monday, said the company, which noted that response plans are already being executed and that third-party experts are being sought to aid in investigating the case. "IHG is working to fully restore all systems as soon as possible and to assess the nature, extent and impact of the incident. We will be supporting hotel owners and operators as part of our response to the ongoing service disruption. IHG's hotels are still able to operate and to take reservations directly," the company added. While IHG did not provide details regarding the cyberattack, Hudson Rock noted that the incident has compromised at least 15 employees and 4,030 internal network users. IHG was previously impacted by cyberattacks in 2016 and 2017.
