Sixth teen arrested in breach of U.K. ISP TalkTalk

A teenager turned himself in to police in Staffordshire, U.K., where he was arrested on charges stemming from a breach of internet services provider TalkTalk which impacted more than 150,000 customers, according to Express & Star.

The attack cost the company £60 million (USD $86.3 million) and led to the loss of more than 100,000 customers. Although research from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech revealed that seven percent of TalkTalk's broadband base moved to a different provider in 4Q 2015, since the attack, owing to more competitive pricing and a switch from passwords to voice biometrics, the firm reports that TalkTalk had a 3.2 percent increase in new customers during 1Q 2016.

The arrest of the unnamed 19-year-old, who was charged with suspicion of computer misuse offenses, is the sixth related to the attack last October on TalkTalk. All those arrested are under 21.

Police say the investigation is still ongoing.
