New Edge 2.0 platform by Suse introduces zero trust

Suse has rolled out its Edge 2.0 platform, which among other things would allow users to adopt a zero trust security approach while operating at edge, according to VentureBeat. According to Suse, it's upgraded edge platform merges several components, such as the 2.7 version of the Rancher container orchestration system, the Suse Linux EnterpriseMicro edition and Neuvector technologies for security. With Neuvector integration, Suse Edge 2.0 receives data loss protection against inside or external threats. Suse Edge 2.0 also makes use of the company's new Elemental technology, which enables treatment of the SLE Micro code as though it were a container and grants the SLE Micro operating system the same workload mobility and scalability benefits as being in a container. Containers today are operating system images without a kernel, so you cant boot a container traditionally, according to Keith Basil, general manager of Suse's edge business unit. With Elemental we can build a version of SLE Micro that keeps the kernel inside the image.
