Report highlights unaddressed insider risk facing enterprises

The latest Data Exposure Report released by Code42 has revealed that organizations remain at risk of data breaches originating from insiders, with 71% of companies saying they are not aware of the amount of sensitive data that employees take with them when they leave their employment, according to SDxCentral. According to the study, 96% of surveyed companies said they view their current cybersecurity training measures as needing improvement and 55% are concerned that the new hybrid-remote work environments would lead to lax cybersecurity practices among employees. Code42 Chief Technology Officer Rob Juncker highlighted a finding in the report that 61% of IT leaders attributed data breaches they had experienced since the start of the pandemic to their remote workforce. Juncker said this can be traced back to workers turning to cloud tools to resume collaboration, typically without training or controls in place, as well as with organizations use of contractors who use their own devices and stayed with the firms for a short period of time.
