Report: Organizations backup tasks complicated by multiple environments

Backup monitoring and reporting provider Bocada said in a new report that 17% of information technology professionals named securing backup data across multiple applications as their top concern, according to SiliconANGLE. The survey found that protecting increasing volumes of data came second at 15%, followed by establishing cloud backup oversight at 14%, in third place among backup professionals top concerns. Cloud backup oversight is now in the mix as well, a product of upcoming or in-progress cloud transformations, the report notes. Nearly 50% of respondents said they are increasingly combining their backup operations with their cybersecurity efforts through a greater integration between these tools. Regarding automation for backup operations, nearly two-thirds of backup professionals said they have not applied any automation to recurring backup management activities, but 50% said they expect to implement at least some automation within the next two years. Backup professionals will be expected to manage growing data volumes across cloud applications, adding to the already difficult task of managing backup application complexity, according to the report.
