Enterprises benefiting from shift to cloud-based security

TechRadar reports that a survey of 700 IT professionals found that switching to the cloud for security solutions has led to savings on hardware replacements for nearly four out of five European companies. The poll by software-as-a-service solutions provider Netskope further revealed that 21% of IT professionals benefited from savings after transitioning to Firewall-as-a-Service, 21% capitalized on saving opportunities presented by vendor consolidation and other firms generated savings on costs associated with bandwidth and virtual private network services. The move from legacy technology to cloud also introduced several challenges for firms, according to the report, including uncertainty over which personnel should lead the transition projects. Security teams are being tapped to fund zero-trust and SASE initiatives, according to 27% of IT leaders, while the same percentage said they are relying on their firms’ network and infrastructure personnel. With 99.5% of respondents saying they are “undertaking network and security transformation projects in the next five years,” many of the firms expect an influx of new employees for their security teams, according to Netskope.
