Just days after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) hacked into San Bernardino terrorist Syed Rizwan Farook iPhone 5c, the FBI has agreed to help unlock the iPhone and iPod belonging to a teenager accused of killing an Arkansas couple.
The Associated Press said the FBI will work with Faulkner, Ark. Prosecuting Attorney Cody Hiland to unlock and investigate the content of the phone. Law enforcement officials have not said if the iPhone in this case is similar to Farook's nor did they give any indication how the contents would be accessed.
The FBI has not stated how it was able to crack Farook's phone other than to say the task was accomplished with the help of an outside company. However, infosec industry speculation sees the Israeli firm Cellebrite as the leading candidate for having helped the FBI.
