Oculus exec says VR privacy questions will be answered ‘in due time’

An executive from the virtual reality (VR) company Oculus said his firm will answer “in due time” questions raised in a U.S. senator's open letter to the firm's CEO concerning Oculus' collection of user data on its Rift headset.

"People want to know,” Oculus' head of worldwide studios Jason Rubin told the Associated Press during an April 14 interview. “They have a right to ask. We'll answer. It'll be fine," Rubin said.

Earlier this month, Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) wrote the letter to the VR company's CEO, Brendan Iribe, questioning the firm's privacy policy and asking for more details on how data collected by the device is used.

“It remains important to understand the extent to which Oculus may be collecting Americans' personal information, including sensitive location data, and sharing that information with third parties.” Franken said in the letter.

The senator asked that the all questions be answered by May 13, 2016.
