A former executive at Apple was sentenced on Friday to one year in prison for leaking company secrets and receiving monetary compensation from vendors and suppliers.
Paul Shin Devine, 41, from Sunnyvale, Calif., worked as the company's global supply manager from 2005 until his arrest in 2010, according to the International Business Times. During his arrest, federal agents seized more than $150,000 in cash stored in shoe boxes in his home, according to a report by MacWorld.
Court documents indicate that Devine was indicted on 23 counts of wire fraud, wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering.
After forfeiting $2.4 million in 2011, in a plea agreement with prosecutors, he admitted to participating in the scheme where he accepted kickbacks from iPhone and iPod suppliers in Asia in exchange for sensitive company information, like product forecasts, specifications and pricing.
