Convicted lottery official faces additional charges

A former Multi-State Lottery Association security official who was sentenced to 10 years in prison last month for trying to rig a $14 million Iowa Jackpot in 2010 is now facing additional charges.

Edward “Eddie” Tipton was charged on Oct. 9 with ongoing criminal conduct by the Iowa attorney's general office. The Iowa Department of Public Safety said on Oct. 9 that a tip and further investigation indicated that Tipton also may have collected a jackpot in Colorado and Wisconsin.

Tipton was convicted in September on two fraud charges. The Des Moines Register reported as a lottery employee he had installed a rootkit onto drawing computers to fix the outcome.
