Cable One alerts customers of a phishing scam

The  Phoenix, AZ.-based cable provider Cable One alerted its customers of a phishing email scam attempting to steal payment and personal information.

Scammers posing as a Cable One representative send emails, using the subject line “Your Monthly Bill”, and instruct victims to click on links in order to update their payment information in order to maintain their service with the company, The Daily Courier reported.

An official with the Yavapai, Az. County Sheriff's Office told The Daily Courier that the email message contains poor grammar and there is a typo in the first paragraph. In addition, there was no account identification information present in the notice.

The malicious links redirect customers to a fraudulent site where scammers attempt collect personal and payment card information.

The cable company is investigating the issue and has blocked the phony website and the email sender from its network.
