Gonzalez sentenced to 20 years for Heartland hack

Hacker Albert Gonzalez was sentenced Friday in federal court in Boston to 20 years in prison for hacking into the payment card networks of Heartland Payment Systems, 7-Eleven and Hannaford Bros. supermarket chain to steal more than 130 million credit and debit card numbers. His prison term will run concurrently with the 20-year sentence that a judge issued to him on Thursday for leading a group of cybercriminals in stealing tens of millions of credit and debit card numbers from TJX and several other retailers. Since the prison terms will run concurrently, Friday's sentence will not affect his total prison time. — AM
