Israeli police arrest alleged hacker who leaked Madonna’s music

The alleged hacker behind attacks on multiple international artists' computers, including Madonna's, was arrested Wednesday in Tel Aviv.

Israel's version of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Lahav 433, nabbed the 39-year-old suspect after an Israeli firm made a breakthrough in the case and gave its findings to the police, NBC News said. The suspect allegedly stole unfinished music from Madonna's computer and leaked it online.

Following the arrest, the musician praised Israeli police and the FBI who coordinated the arrest on her website.

“Like any citizen, I have the right to privacy,” she wrote. “This invasion into my life – creatively, professionally, and personally remains a deeply devastating and hurtful experience, as it must be for all artists who are victims of this type of crime.”

The singer called the hack a “form of terrorism” in a now-deleted Instagram post.
