Security a key priority, challenge for DevOps teams

Increasing security and compliance demands, as well as accelerated software delivery, and toolchain consolidation have prompted nearly 75% of DevOps professionals to have either implemented or intended to implement a DevOps platform within the year, TechRepublic reports. Most organizations have named security as their highest investment priority, surpassing cloud computing, with more than 50% of security team members either adopting or planning to adopt a shift left security strategy, according to a GitLab survey. However, the findings showed that while more than half cited security as a performance metric for their organizations' developers, half of security professionals noted that three-quarters of vulnerabilities are not being identified by developers. Moreover, DevSecOps adoption has been lagging in the public sector.
