Department of Homeland Security Deputy Secretary Alejandro Mayorka will meet with senior Chinese officials in Beijing to discuss implementing a series of cybersecurity agreements that were set between the two countries.
The meeting will take place later this week as the U.S. and China gear up to discuss cybersecurity on the ministerial-level in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 1 and 2, according to The Hill.
China President Xi Jinping met with President Obama in September clarify the difference between government cyberspying and corporate espionage for commercial gain after China was accused of cyber hacking.
The two nations agreed not to “conduct or knowingly support cyber-enabled theft of intellectual property...with the intent of providing competitive advantages to companies or commercial sectors,” according to a document released by the White House.
Last week seven House Democrats traveled to China to discuss cybersecurity.
