Dark web monitoring added to US Gmail accounts

SiliconAngle reports that Google has announced at its annual I/O conference that it will be rolling out dark web reporting for all Gmail users across the U.S. within the next few weeks after initially offering the service for Google One subscribers in March. Google's dark web monitoring service produces a report determining stolen data on dark web markets and hacking sites. With the service provided on Gmail, users will be able to determine whether their email addresses have been compromised in data breaches, with Google providing users guidance and reminders on how they could better protect their email accounts. Other international markets are expected to receive the service soon. Moreover, Google has also introduced a new Safe Browsing application programming interface with better attack-thwarting and phishing-blocking capabilities, as well as improved spam defenses in Google Drive. Increased transparency on apps' data usage in Android 14 has also been touted by Google.
