Firefox 42 offers tracking protection feature to boost privacy

Mozilla included a Tracking Protection feature in the new Firefox Version 42.0 for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android that will give users more control over the information they share with third parties.

The new feature will actively block content like ads, analytics trackers and social share buttons that may record users' behavior without their knowledge, according to a Nov. 3 blog post. Mozilla said previously it was possible for users to unknowingly share information with third parties, even when using private browsing mode.

“We created this feature because we believe in giving you more choice and control over your Web experience,” the company said in the blog.

Users will be able to adjust the security for individual sites using a new control center that contains site security and privacy controls in a single location in the address bar.
