Requests for Google user's data has doubled over the last three years.
According to the tech giant's latest Transparency Report, it received close to 26,000 requests in the first half of 2013, up from about 12,500 in the second half of 2009.
The figures in the report indicate requests from “governments,” but 83 percent, close to 11,000, came from the United States this year alone.
While the number of requests increased, the number of times Google has complied with those demands has decreased from 76 percent in 2010 to 65 percent this year.
The company would like to share more detailed information, but according to a blog post by Richard Salgado, legal director of law enforcement and information security at Google, any requests it receives under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act limits them in doing so.
