Perimeter defense insufficient, security shifting, report says

Mirroring a growing sentiment in infosec, industry leaders surveyed by Ari Kaplan Advisors, agreed that perimeter defense isn't “a sufficient security strategy" with 73 percent saying their cybersecurity needs had shifted over the last year and 69 percent expecting change in the year to come.

Changing needs have prompted 27 percent of the respondents to assess quarterly their cybersecurity requirements. In the report, “Defending Data: An Inside Look at How Corporate Security Officials Are Navigating a Constantly Shifting Information Landscape,” penned by Ari Kaplan Advisors and sponsored by Nuix, 54 percent of respondents collaborate at least monthly with eDiscovery, Legal, records management and information governance stakeholders and 23 percent partnered daily.

While most—96 percent—said their companies okayed remote access to systems, there was a gap when it came to formal policy. Only 69 percent had BYOD policies in place.
