Following breach, Spotify urges Android app users to update

Spotify is urging all users of its Android app to update to the latest version when it becomes available in the next couple of days.

Details are sparse, but according to a Tuesday post from Oskar Stål, CTO of the popular streaming music service, unauthorized access was gained into Spotify systems and, subsequently, to internal company data.

Although only one user's data was accessed in the incident – password, financial and payment information was not compromised – Spotify is taking additional measures to ensure all users of the Android app are protected, according to the post.

Spotify users operating an iOS device or Windows Phone are not affected, according to the post, which encourages Android users to only upgrade through Google Play, Amazon Appstore, or the mobile Spotify website.
