With the explosion of digital information and online retailing, it is no surprise that many retailers are looking for architects and associate architects in information security. They are in very high demand and this looks like a career path with “long legs” and job security.

What It takes

Specific skills include a proficiency in managing the following technologies: Firewalls, IDS/IPS, desktop anti-virus and firewalls, Vulnerability scanning and remdiation, PK/digital certificates and Microsoft Active Directory. Equally if not more important are experience in evaluating web application security. Finally a strong background in conducting risk assesments and the ability to make recommendations for mitigation

Compensation
Compensation for architects and associate architects in information security range from $80k-$150k depending on the job experience and size of the organizations you have worked with.
