Company news: ISSA elects a new president

»Ira Winkler (left) has been elected as the international president of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA), a role he takes on for the 2012-2013 term. ISSA, which is compromised of nearly 10,000 cyber security professionals in more than 150 chapters worldwide, also appointed six security veterans to its board: Frances Alexander, Debbie Christofferson, Mary Ann Davidson, Nils Puhlmann, Brian Schultz, and Stefano Zanero.

»Tenable Network Security, a solutions provider based in Columbia, Md., received $50 million in funding from Accel Partners. The assets will be used to expand the company's security offerings, accelerate global growth and enhance its research on evolving threats.

»PhishMe, a Chantilly, Va.-based spear phishing simulator, has secured $2.5 million in funding to support global expansion and to enhance sales, technology partnerships and products. Paladin Capital Group provided the funding and Christopher Steed, the company's vice president, will join the board. PhishMe provides training and services to defend against phishing attacks.

»Geoff Charron (right) has joined eIQnetworks, an Acton, Mass.-based security and compliance provider, as senior vice president of engineering. He has more than 20 years of enterprise software engineering and management experience, and was previously the vice president of software engineering at BeyondTrust. He will lead product development efforts.

»Mike Fey (left), formerly the head of field engineering and advanced technology at McAfee, has been promoted to the role of worldwide chief technology officer. Fey joined the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company in 2007, after serving in leadership positions at several technology companies. In his new position, he will report directly to Todd Gebhart, McAfee's co-president, and manage regional and sector CTOs at the company, among other management duties.

»Sameer Bhalotra, a former senior director for cyber security under the Obama administration, has joined Menlo Park, Calif.-based security start-up Impermium as chief operating officer. He left the White House in January.

»Tufin Technologies, a security policy management solutions firm based in Ramat Gan, Israel, made two company appointments. Stephan Mesguich (right) was named vice president of sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and Ed Greene, the vice president of sales for the Americas. Combined, the executives bring more than 40 years of sales and operations experience to Tufin.

»KeyW, a cyber security solutions firm, has acquired Sensage, a security information and event management company based in Redwood City, Calif. The acquisition will help expand cyber awareness products and services offered at the Hanover, Md.-based company. Under the agreement, KeyW could pay up to $16.5 million in common stock to Sensage equity holders, in addition to up to $18 million in cash, depending on Sensage's revenue for the second half of 2012.

»EMC has acquired Montreal, Canada-based Silicium Security to expand its security division RSA's capabilities to address advanced cyber threats. Bedford, Mass.-headquartered RSA, will also expand globally through a recent partnership with Booz Allen Hamilton. The companies will jointly work to create new offerings for advanced security services and explore commercial offerings for automated threat response solutions.

»Burlington, Mass.-based Veracode is acquiring Marvin Mobile Security, a firm based in the San Francisco Bay area that specializes in mobile malware detection. The acquisition will expand application security offerings at Veracode, a leader in cloud-based application security testing. This year, Veracode received $30 million in venture backed funding and grew its employee base by more than 30 percent.

»Ron Matros has been named CEO of Content Raven, a Marlborough, Mass.-based company that provides intellectual property security consulting. Previously, Matros was the CEO and president of Inmagic based in Woburn, Mass. He has also held leadership positions at MetaCarta and iConverse, among other roles.
