Sandberg to meet lawmakers weeks before Facebook appears at hearings

While Facebook is slated to appear before Congressional committees probing Russia's meddling in the 2016 presidential election, company COO Sheryl Sandberg reportedly will travel to Capitol Hill to meet with members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Thursday.

The CBC has made it clear it wants additional information from Facebook about Russia's use of social media to exert influence on the election. The lawmakers also are encouraging tech firms to diversify their boards, according to a report in The Hill.

Facebook has given a broad overview of the content contained in the 3,000 ads that were placed on the social media site Russian Internet Research Agency during and after the 2016 election cycle and that were turned over to House and Senate intelligence committees in early September.
