Breach, Data Security

1,600 Electronic Arts FIFA 20 players’ reg data compromised

An Electronic Arts website for its EA Sports FIFA 20 Global Series operated for about 30 minutes with a glitch during which time 1,600 users had their personal information exposed.

The incident began on October 3 at 1 pm when users began noticing and informing the company that they were viewing others registration details, the company said via its Twitter account. EA said the site was taken down at 1:30 pm and an investigation determine and fix the cause. EA is now attempting to contact those impacted and registration for the game will re-open in a few days.

However, the quick reaction by EA was not enough to satisfy its customers.

The website in question was supposed to support EA's FIFA 20 Global Series tournament for the company's just launched FIFA 20 soccer game.
