390K affected in Disney Playdom forums breach

Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media are notifying users that an unauthorized party compromised the Disney Playdom forums website and accessed user information.

How many victims? Approximately 391,000 users

What type of information? Usernames, email addresses, playdomforums.com account passwords, and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses collected during user registration were all compromised.

What happened? On July 9 and July 12, 2016, an unauthorized party gained access to user information on the playdomforums.com servers. On July 12, 2016, officials became aware of the breach and immediately began an investigation into the incident.

What was the response? The website has since been shut down and all passwords for the affected accounts have been invalidated. Officials also reported the incident to law enforcement and launched a new forums area with enhanced security measures. Users have been instructed to change their password and other online accounts if they share the same credentials as those that were compromised.

Quote: “The privacy and protection of our guests' information is a matter we take very seriously, and we have worked swiftly to resolve the incident,” the Notice of Breach said.
