Specialized payroll service American Residuals and Talent (ART Payroll) is notifying current and former clients and their employees that unauthorized intruders gained access to an ART Payroll database and may have compromised their data.
How many victims? Current and former ART Payroll clients and their employees are being notified. An ART Payroll spokesperson told SCMagazine.com on Tuesday that the exact number of impacted individuals is not yet being released.
What type of personal information? Names, addresses, dates of birth, telephone numbers, email addresses, Social Security numbers, bank account information, ART account numbers, and ART account user IDs and passwords.
What happened? Unauthorized intruders gained access to the ART Payroll web application for less than two hours, and may have compromised the information.
What was the response? ART Payroll launched an investigation with help from outside forensic experts. ART Payroll has analyzed its systems and processes, and implemented additional measures to secure personal information. All impacted individuals are being notified, and offered a free year of identity protection services.
Details: ART Payroll detected an unauthorized login to its web application on Oct. 18. Experts determined on Nov. 10 that information may have been accessed.
Quote: “We are unaware of any actual or attempted misuse of your information, but we are providing notice of this incident to you out of an abundance of caution,” Emily Erksine, president of ART Payroll, wrote in the notification.
