Data Propria, heir to Cambridge Analytica, working for RNC, possibly Trump campaign

Data Propria, an analytics firm focused in part on voting and run by at Cambridge Analytica's head of product, Matt Oczkowski, is working on 2018 campaign polling initiatives for the Republican National Committee (RNC), though it denied having any affiliation – yet – with the Trump 2020 campaign.

Oczkowski and Brad Parscale, the president's 2020 campaign manager told the Associated Press Data Propria, had a “modest” contract with the RNC but that there were no Trump campaign projects slated.

But two AP reporters overheard a conversation in a public location in which Oczkowski told a contact that he and Parscale were “doing the president's work for 2020.” The report cited an anonymous source who said the company, which employees at least four former Cambridge Analytica employees including its former data scientist, was pretty much doing the same kind of work for the Trump campaign as its predecessor did in 2016.

Unable to withstand the months-long scandal over its collection of data from millions of unsuspecting Facebook users, Cambridge Analytica, which claimed to have helped Trump gain the White House, closed its doors in May, announcing that it was filing for bankruptcy.

"The Company is immediately ceasing all operations,” the company said in a statement at the time.

Parscale is one of the owners of Cloud Commerce, Data Propria's parent company.
