American Cancer Society selects WatchGuard to secure 23 locations

The American Cancer Society plans to deploy WatchGuard Firebox X security appliances in order to boost security across its 23 locations nationwide.

The organization previously used a variety of security appliances at its multiple sites, which created compatibility and scalability issues as well as inconsistent levels of security, according to WatchGuard. The Firebox X appliance combines firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention, spam blocking, web filtering, and authentication functions.

The American Cancer Society reviewed several other products, including those from Cisco Systems and Check Point Software Technologies, before choosing WatchGuard, the vendor said Tuesday.

The organization has 350 users and 80 percent of them are mobile workers.
