Company news: Big additions to teams at Lancope, SafeNet, and more

»Kerry Armistead (left) has joined Atlanta-based Lancope, a flow-based security and network-performance monitoring firm, as VP of product management. Armistead was formerly the director of product management and marketing for cloud-based IT services provider Cbeyond, another Atlanta-based firm. In his new position, Armistead will oversee the delivery of the company's infrastructure security product, StealthWatch System, to government and enterprise clients.

»Dave Hansen has joined Belcamp, Md.-based data protection provider SafeNet as president and CEO. Prior to coming to SafeNet, Hansen was the vice president and general manager at BMC Software, an IT management solutions firm headquartered in Houston. Hansen joins the company's board and succeeds SafeNet's former president and CEO Chris Fedde.

»BeyondTrust, a Carlsbad, Calif.-based provider of privileged identity and threat management solutions, has acquired Blackbird Group, a New York-based enterprise software company. The acquisition will allow BeyondTrust to expand its real-time auditing capabilities for customers. Blackbird Group provides automation and compliance management for Microsoft Windows users.

»Blue Coat Systems, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based web security and wide area network (WAN) optimization provider, has acquired Boxborough, Mass-based Crossbeam Systems, maker of a platform that helps companies manage and consolidate their third-party security offerings. The acquisition allows Blue Coat to expand its security and networking solutions offerings.

»David Scholtz (left) has joined Atlanta-based advanced threat protection provider Damballa as CEO. Prior, Scholtz served in executive roles at McAfee, Hewlett-Packard Software and TagLabs, a Denver-based mobile tagging solutions company.

»RSA, the security division of EMC, has launched the RSA Anti-Fraud Command Center (AFCC) in collaboration with Purdue University. AFCC will be staffed with fraud analysts who specialize in tracking and stopping phishing, mobile-app-based attacks and other online fraud. 

»The Security Industry Association (SIA) and the Government Technology & Services Coalition (GTSC) have collaborated to develop joint programs for members. Under the partnership, members of Silver Spring, Md.-based SIA, a security industry body that educates, trains and advocates security policy among businesses, will have discounted registration for SIA and GTSC events. GTSC is a nonprofit, non-partisan association that provides advocacy in the national security space for small to midsize companies.
