The hacker known as Gnosticplayers has placed a third set of databases up for sale on the Dream Market dark web marketplace.
This round includes an additional eight databases with data from 92.76 million users, according to a report in ZDNet, with each database going for 2.6249 bitcoin or about $9,400. The report said the hacker claimed to want to sell more than a billion user records.
"At just 1/100 of a penny per file, you can see that the value of individual email addresses and passwords is near zero,” said OneSpan CMO John Gunn. “This is the result of overload of data born of countless breaches over the last several years and the increasing use of artificial intelligence in fighting hacking attacks by companies such as Google, Microsoft and others."
The databases were stolen from Legendas.tv, jobandtalent, Onebip, StoryBird, StreetEasy, GfyCat, ClassPass and Pizap.
