IT managers spending more time on security

A survey released Monday by security vendor Secure Computing showed that IT managers are spending more hours on security and are more worried about spyware than spam.

The survey, conducted for Secure Computing by research firm TheInfoPro, queried 102 IT managers in government plus large and midsize businesses.

Seventy-two percent of the respondents said they are spending more or significantly more time addressing security needs than a year ago. Five percent were spending less time.

Meanwhile, 79 percent said they were more concerned about employees' workstations being infected by spyware. A similar survey last year showed that only 25 percent saw spyware as a threat.

Only 27 percent said they were more worried about spam this year while 45 percent said they were less concerned, citing the use of spam filters.

The survey results are available at www.securecomputing.com/goto/runningtokeepup

As reported in SC Magazine spam and virus volumes are hitting new highs according to a new survey.
