Shadow Brokers Claim NSA Hacked Middle East Banking System

By Marcos Colon

The infamous hacking collective known as the Shadow Brokers has released a new trove of information tied to the National Security Agency (NSA).

Released on Friday, April 14, the data dump included information on NSA hacking tools used to break into Microsoft systems, in addition to what they say is evidence that the agency also infiltrated the Middle East banking system, according to The New York Times.

Included in the leaks are PowerPoint and Excel documents that point to the NSA successfully infiltrating a Dubai-based company that manages transactions in the SWIFT messaging system.

After leaks by the hacking group had appeared to dissipate, the Shadow Brokers released the new information because of a recent attack on a Syrian air base, and also because they believe President Trump is abandoning, “the peoples who getting you elected,” according to a blog post by the group.
