Swiss bank outsources IDS monitoring

Swiss Bank Credit Suisse has signed a deal with managed services company Ubizen to provide a monitoring service of the bank's intrusion detection systems (IDS).

The three-year contract will see Ubizen using its OnlineGuardian service to oversee what goes on in the bank's network.

Ralph Holbein, CISO at Credit Suisse said the monitoring and tuning of IDSs required a lot of expertise and specialised technology which prompted the bank into looking at managed services for the systems.

He added the service Ubizen offered had "flexibility in tailoring its solution to our specific needs, such as compliance to cross-border data transfer regulation."

Jan De Blauwe, Ubizen's financial services vice president said the bank was very clear about expected service levels and solid processes and procedures to back those up.

"This allowed us to design a solution that both blends well with their existing in-hpuse security competencies and addition takes into account Swiss data privacy rules," he added.
