Trump lawyer, confidante Cohen to testify before Senate committee

Donald Trump's lawyer, Michael Cohen, who once drafted a letter arguing for sanctions against Russia to be lifted, will testify Tuesday before the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is investigating Russian interference in the U.S. presidential election and possible collusion with members of the Trump campaign, according to an NBC News report.

Trump business associate Russian-born Felix Sater, who negotiated for Cohen to build a Trump Tower Moscow, in a series of emails with the attorney famously claimed that if Russian President Vladimir Putin would give Trump the thumbs up, "our boy can become president of the USA and we can engineer it. I will get all of Putins team to buy in on this, I will manage this process.” A 17-page letter of intent for the project recently surfaced.

Cohen dismissed Sater's words as boasting and, later, in a letter to the House Intelligence Committee denied claims about his relationship with the Kremlin asserted in the now infamous (and sometimes salacious) Steele dossier on Trump in which Cohen was a main figure.
