Efforts made by former CIA Director John Brennan to modernize the CIA have paid off and will carry on under the new administration, according to sources in the program.
The CIA's Directorate of Digital Innovation (DDI) was put in place by Brennan two years ago and is now delivering the cyberespionage tools and intelligence gathering capabilities the agency was seeking to provide, according to Cyberscoop. It was uncertain if the controversial efforts would remain under the Trump administration.
“We are creating agile digital environments to enhance our ability to collaborate as an Agency and Intelligence Community,” DDI's Associate Deputy Director Sean Roche told the publication. “The vision is to create pathways for persistent clandestine and open-source collection that feed data exploitation and curation.”
