Following the Russian hacking activity surrounding the 2016 presidential elections, there has been a lot of talk around the attempts to erode trust in our democracy. The United States intelligence community has confirmed the efforts, and also believe that there’s . We’re in a new era of warfare, where there are fewer risks and more options for foreign adversaries to impact a lot more than just elections, according to Sam Curry, chief security officer at Cybereason.
“As we go into 2020, we should remember the elections of 2016,” Curry told InfoSec Insider during a video interview shot at the 2019 RSA Conference. “We should remember that there was a massive set of cyber activities around the 2016 U.S. elections. But the United States was not the only [country that was attacked].”
Curry went on to share that other nations before and after the 2016 presidential elections have experienced threats that impacted their political system by other nation states.
