Deric Lostutter (aka KYAnonymous) brought attention to the gang rape of a teenage girl by hacking into an online account for fans of the Steubenville (Ohio) High School football team has pleaded guilty and now could face a longer prison sentence than two of the team members convicted of the rape.
The 29-year-old Kentucky man could be sentenced to up to five years in prison for teaming up with another hacker to infiltrate the site four months after authorities had arrested the perpetrators. Two football team members received two-year and one-year sentences.
Lostutter's plea agreement said he and a friend, Noah McHugh, intended "to harass and intimidate people, and to gain notoriety and publicity for their online identities," Reuters reported. He will be sentenced in March.
