Company news: Graham Cluley leaves Sophos, Aveksa gets acquired, and more

» Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant, and Carole Theriault (left), senior security consultant, have left Sophos to pursue their own endeavors. After 14 years with the U.K.-based security firm, Cluley has launched GrahamCluley.com, where he reports the latest security news, opinions and advice. Theriault, who was also – along with Cluley – a regular contributor to Sophos' Naked Security blog, has started her own social media blog and communications agency, called Tick Tock Social.

»Invincea, a Fairfax, Va.-based firm founded by Anup Ghosh in 2006 that develops secure virtual containers for advanced malware detection, has signed an OEM agreement with Dell. Invincea's technology will now be offered on Dell PCs as part of the Dell Data Protection | Protected Workspace brand, securing products like Latitude, OptiPlex and Dell Precision tablets and PCs.

»Michael Hughes has joined Pindrop Security, an Atlanta-based firm that provides authentication and anti-fraud technology for call centers and mobile users, as VP of global sales and business development. Prior to this position, Hughes was the VP of North America sales at Actimize, a New York-based anti-fraud solutions provider for financial firms that was acquired by NICE Systems in 2007. 

»Absolute Software has acquired Palisade Systems, a Des Moines, Iowa-based data security and data loss prevention provider. With the deal, the Austin, Texas-based vendor takes on Palisade Systems' suite of data protection technologies.

»Dipto Chakravarty (left) has joined ThreatTrack Security, a Clearwater, Fla.-based advanced threat mitigation firm, as EVP of engineering and products. In his role, Chakravarty will lead global research and product development initiatives. He has more than 25 years of security experience, which includes time as CTO at Artesia Technologies, a company he co-founded that has since been acquired by OpenText, a Canada-based enterprise information management (EIM) solutions provider.

»Rod Murchison has joined Tripwire, a Portland, Ore.-based security and compliance management solutions firm, as VP of product management and technology alliances. Murchison brings more than 20 years of experience in product development for IT security and networking solutions, and was previously the SVP of engineering and product management at Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Narus.

»EMC has acquired Aveksa, a Waltham, Mass.-based identity and access management (IAM) solutions provider. With the deal, Hopkinton, Mass.-based EMC, a global firm providing information security and data storage services, welcomes Aveksa into its RSA security division as part of RSA's Identity Trust Management product group. The acquisition is intended to enhance RSA's solutions for IAM challenges facing clients in enterprise, cloud and mobile environments.

»Doug Parr has been hired by Entersekt, an Atlanta-based provider of financial transaction authentication technology, as senior VP for the company's North American division. In his role, Parr will oversee the expansion of the North American market, a position that entails assisting senior-level management in corporate and marketing objectives and supporting company business goals in the United States and Canada.
