Adobe Patch Tuesday: Nothing

In what Adobe believes may be a first, the company did not issue any security updates for its product line this month.

Adobe, Microsoft, Oracle and many other firms traditionally push out their security patches on the second Tuesday of the month, but today Adobe skipped the ritual stating it had nothing new to issue. When asked if this is was the first time this has happened a company spokesperson told SC Media, “It's the first one we can recall.”

“Adobe has become very consistent at releasing Flash Player updates on Patch Tuesday.  While this month's lack of security update for flash is extraordinary, there is a good chance we will make it to November Patch Tuesday without a flash update. There is always a chance for a zero day or critical vulnerability that would warrant an out of band as well,” Chris Goettl, Ivanti's product manager, told SC Media.

Adobe's September Patch Tuesday release was light with only eight vulnerabilities being fixed, but security releases numbering in the double-digits is the norm with problems with Flash Player and Adobe Reader normally needing the most help. The company has also issued out of cycle updates to take care of particularly dangerous issues with its products.
