Ransomware attack compromises Australian beer supply

A ransomware attack on beverage company Lion could result in a temporary shortage of Australian beer after it was compelled to shut down key systems.

“There remains no evidence that any of the information contained in our system (including financial or personal information) has been affected,” Lion said.

In a Monday update the beverage company said its IT teams and cybersecurity advisors had “made good progress” in mitigating the incident it continues “to have limited visibility of our products in our systems” though it is “hoping to get a number of our breweries back up and running very soon.”

Despite those efforts, the company is “experiencing temporary shortages of some of our brands of keg beer.”
