An east London man accused of hacking into the website co-ordinating relief for victims of the Asian tsunami disaster will have to wait until 17 May before a date is set for his trial.
Daniel James Cuthbert, 28, of Commercial Street, Whitechapel, east London was charged on 10 February with a single offense under Section One of the Computer Misuse Act. The charge follows an alleged "unauthorized access" of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) website last New Year's Eve, according to Metropolitan Police. The defendant denies the charge and has had his unconditional bail extended to this date.
A hearing at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court in London adjourned the case until 17 May when a further hearing is due to set a trial date.
According to DEC the hacking attempt was detected and immediately foiled. It stressed that no money was taken from the fund.
